Advantages include ease of installation, corrosion resistance, low friction loss, initial cost, and longevity. Easy Installation • ABS, PVC and CPVC systems are light in weight (approximately one -half the weight of aluminum and one -sixth the weight of steel) reducing transportation, handling, and installation cost. They have smooth, seamless interior walls. No special tools are required for cutting. These materials can be installed using the solvent cement joining technique. Strength • ABS, PVC and CPVC products are highly resilient, tough and durable with high tensile and high impact strength. Freedom from Toxicity, Odors, Tastes • PVC will not pass the ASTM E -84 25/50 flame spread / smoke developed test and is not acceptable for use in plenum areas. Consult Charlotte Pipe for additional information on CPVC in plenum applications. For plenum applications, follow prevailing code requirements. Low Friction Loss • The smooth interior surfaces of ABS, PVC and CPVC assure low friction loss and high flow rate. Additionally, since ABS, PVC and CPVC pipe resist rusting, pitting, scaling and corrosion, the high flow rate can be maintained for the life of the piping system. Low Thermal Conductivity • PVC and CPVC pipe have a much lower thermal conductivity factor than metal pipe. Therefore, fluids being piped maintain a more constant temperature. In many cases, pipe insulation is not required. Cost Effective PVC and CPVC piping systems designed for domestic water ABS, PVC and CPVC products are extremely lightweight, applications are listed to conform to NSF International convenient to handle, relatively flexible, and easy to Standard 61. This Health 'Effects standard ensures the install. These features lead to lower installed cost than safety of products coming into contact with drinking other In I systems. water. p p g y Corrosion Free External and Internal With many other pipe materials, slight corrosion may occur. The corroded particles can contaminate the piped fluid, complicating further processing, or causing bad taste, odors, or discoloration. This is particularly undesirable when the piped fluid is for domestic consumption. With PVC and CPVC, there are no corrosive by- products, therefore, no contamination of the piped fluid. Immunity to Galvanic or Electrolytic Attack • ABS, PVC and CPVC are inherently immune to galvanic or electrolytic action. They can be used underground, underwater, in the presence of metals, and can be connected to metals. Fire Resistance • PVC and CPVC piping systems are self extinguishing and will not support combustion. The ASTM E 84 test protocol is used to determine the flame and smoke rating for various materials. Virtually Maintenance Free • Once an ABS, PVC or CPVC system is properly selected, designed, and installed, it is virtually maintenance free. Therefore, years of trouble -free service can be expected when using Charlotte Pipe and Foundry ABS, PVC and CPVC systems. !M WARNINC,A Testing with or use of compressed air or gas in PVC / ABS / CPVC pipe or fittings can result in explosive failures and cause severe injury or death. NEVER test with or transport /store AIR /GAS compressed air or gas in PVC / ABS / CPVC pipe or fittings. 0 NEVER test PVC / ABS / CPVC pipe or fittings with compressed air or gas, or air over water boosters. ONLY use PVC / ABS / CPVC pipe for water or approved chemicals. Refer to warnings in PPFA User Bulletin 4 -80 and ASTM D 1785. Thanks, Poppop Randy, Welcome to the forum. They have never seen PVC pipe explode; and it will. Sometimes it's just too cold and work has to wail on the weather. In Texas, I've seen PVC shards scattered for over 40 feel, after an explosion; and, have seen demonstrations of exploding PVC pipe. Water pressure and air pressure are very different. That is also why PVC water pipe should not be tested with air. It's one of those; "I've been doing it for years; and haven't had a problem" things. We had a contractor from back east working for a local contrator on a big building he was testing with water called for an inspection on a tuesday afternoon he filled the system with water in the morning the temp was about 17 degrees or colder froze his gauge and busted several 90's and wyes in the DWV. The rest of the job was tested with air. We do make the HVAC contractor test his plastic flue pipe with lot air and it has been a good thing you would be suprised on how many leakes they have on the flue pipe even if they use the purple primer. A new amended plat has been filed with the City of Grapevine which abandons the old cul -de -sac and squares off the front of the lot for a 25' build line which is per city ordinance of R5 zoning. The formboard survey was submitted with front setback of 25' 6" but still had the radius build line. In conclusion, I am assuming responsibility for proceeding forward without the amended plat being filed with the county but approved by the City of Grapevine and do not hold the City of Grapevine responsible. However, if he is still in early phases of construction and the set backs are okay with the building line that is to be revised... I'm okay with him moving forward at his risk. If we don't get the amended plat prior to the next round of inspection, it's on hold. If this is a CO inspection, it can't be passed. Ex.: treatment of some or all of the perimeter, bath traps, expansion joints, stress cracks and bait locations. Pier and Beam - Generally defined as the treatment of the outer perimeter including porches, patios and treatment of the attached garage. In the crawl space, treatment would include any soil to structure contacts as well as removal of any wood debris on the ground. Slab Construction - Generally defined as treatment of the perimeter and all known slab penetrations as well as any known expansion joints or stress cracks. Spot Treatment: Any treatment which concerns a limited, defined area less than ten (10) linear or square feet that is intended to protect a specific location or "spot'. Often there are adjacent areas susceptible to termite infestation which are not treated. ATTACHMENTS: A label for any pesticide recommended or used has been attached as part of this document. Warranty information (if any) including area covered, time period of warranty, renewal options and cost, the obligations of the pest control company to retreat for termite infestations or repair damage caused by termite infestations within the warranty period, and conditions that could develop as a result of the owners action or inaction that would void the warranty has been attached as part of this document.
