FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER ' °""
SCOTT WILLIAMS, DEVELOPMENT SERVICES DIRECTOR
MEETING DATE: JULY 17, 2012
SUBJECT: RULES OF PROCEDURE - RECONSIDERATION OF AGENDA
ITEMS
RECOMMENDATION:
Council to discuss rules and procedures relative to reconsideration of agenda items,
and take any necessary action.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
At the June 5, 2012 City Council meeting, the Mayor and Council discussed the process
of reconsideration of agenda items, and asked that staff bring the item to a future
workshop for discussion.
Staff has consulted the City Attorney, Matthew Boyle, who said that rules and
procedures may be adopted requiring that more than one dissenting City Council
Member must be required for reconsideration of an item that has been denied.
At the June 19, 2012 meeting, Council discussed the issue, and asked that rules of
procedure be drafted, requiring at least two Council Members to request reconsideration
in order for an item to be brought back.
