Main exit required to serve '/z occupant load, two side exits required to serve 1/3
occupant load each. Side exits shall open directly to a public way or to an exit
passageway. Side exits can not exit through an adjoining room.
The two exits through the lobby will be considered a main and a side exit. One
more side exit is required. Exit doors shall swing in direction of exit and panic
hardware is required. No stage or platform indicated on plans.
Construction: The wall along the south

Exiting:
Exiting for A2.1 Occupancies from section 1016
Main exit required to serve'/2 occupant load, two side exits required to serve 1/3
occupant load each. Side exits shall open directly to a public way or to an exit
passageway. One side exit is provided. One more side exit is required. This
may be done as a horizontal exit through the common wall (2hr rating with 90-
minute doors required) with the Heritage Theater. Doors shall swing in direction
of exit and panic hardware is required. Two Exits are required from the second
floor. A one -hour fire -resistive corridor shall lead theater patrons to a stair in the
rear of the theater, location to be determined.
Construction: Unprotected wood construction is permitted with sprinklers
placed as approved by the Fire Marshal. The performance area is considered a
stage with a stage height of less than 50 feet and area in excess of 1000 square
feet. Section 405.3.1 requires stages with stage heights less than 50 feet to be
separated from other accessory spaces by a one -hour fire -resistive occupancy
separation. Accessory rooms, dressing rooms, workshops, storerooms and other
accessory spaces contiguous with the stage shall be separated from each other
and other building areas by one -hour fire -resistive construction. Due to stage
area in excess of 1000 square feet ventilation complying with 405.3.3 shall be
provided. Proscenium walls and openings shall comply with section 405.3.4
including a fire curtain. No motion picture projection room is indicated on the
plan.
Note: This review considers the Palace Theater and the Heritage Theater
individual buildings, separated by a two-hour area separation wall. All openings
in the wall shall be protected with 90-minute fire -resistive assemblies.
