Call to Order 11. Invocation 111. Approval of the August 19, 2021 meeting minutes IV. Citizen Comments Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form with the staff. A member of the public may address the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board's consideration of the item, upon being recognized by the Chairman or upon the consent of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments. Kevin Mitchell, Director of Parks & Recreation CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met October 21, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at The Vine Arts & Events Center located at 225 West Worth Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to-wit: MEMBERS ABSENT Terry Musar Paul Slechta — City Council Amond Cowans Becky St. John — GCISD Board Liaison Lavon Light Christian Ross Roy Robertson Morgan Nichols Ray Harris Dana Gibson Mark Assaad LIAISONS Aubrey Alexander— GCISD Student Liaison Constituting a quorum with the following members of City staff: Kevin Mitchell, Director Chris Smith, Deputy Director Teresa Hiner, Administrative Manager Kathy Nelson, Capital Improvement Projects Manager Amanda Rodriguez, Marketing Manager Terry Musar called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. A moment of silence was observed. Approval of Minutes A motion was made to approve the August 19, 2021 meeting minutes. Motion: Assaad Second: Robertson Ayes: Light, Musar, Robertson, Harris, Cowans, Assaad Nays: None Absent: Nichols, Ross, Gibson Approved: 6-0 Citizen Comments No Citizens present for comments. 1 New Business Adopt-An-Area A motion was made to approve the new Adopt-An-Area: The Smith Family. Motion: Robertson Second: Assaad Ayes: Light, Musar, Robertson, Harris, Cowans, Assaad Nays: None Absent: Nichols, Ross, Gibson Approved: 6-0 Presentation Kevin Mitchell presented on the Rock Art Trail, providing an overview of how it came to be, the meaning behind the community project, and being awarded a Guinness World Record. Miscellaneous Board Items Parks and Recreation Update — Kevin Mitchell provided an update. Summer camps were good this season at both The REC and Lake Parks. Pool operations went great as well. Fall sports have picked up and the fields are busy every weekend. Lake Parks' occupancy numbers are up, including at The Vineyards. Meadowmere Park is hosting PumpkinFest the weekends in October, and it is going well. The SunsetLive Concert Series was a success. The Panhandle Park development is moving along, with the demolition of the old fire station complete. We are monitoring the project timeline. GCISD Student Report—Aubrey Alexander was present and gave an update. Both GCISD High School Varsity football teams are 5-0 in district. College representatives are present in the school to provide resources to students. GCISD Report— Becky St. John was not present at the meeting. No update was given.
