FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: NOVEMBER 16, 2021
SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF TWO HORTON AMBULANCES FOR THE FIRE
DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of two Horton
Ambulances from Southern Emergency & Rescue Vehicle Sales (SERVS)
for the Fire Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Equipment Purchase Fund for an
amount not to exceed $650,207.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for two new 2022 Horton Ambulances on a Ford F450
chassis replacing units 10402 and 10413 as approved in the FY 2022
Fleet Replacement budget for the Fire Department. These units are
available at all times equipped to respond to most any medical emergency
providing EMTs with state-of-the-art technology for out of hospital medical
care and ensuring reliable and safe transport to medical facilities and
hospitals. These assets are the most utilized vehicles of our first
responders and invaluable to the citizens of Grapevine. The products and
specifications meet or exceed both the Fire Department and Fleet
Services requirements.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative
(BuyBoard) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271
and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
SERVS. The Fire Department and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract
for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that
the contract would best meet the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
