FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: DECEMBER 7, 2021
SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF HYDRATED CEMENT SLURRY
FOR OAK GROVE LOOP, SNAKEY LANE, AND HUGHES ROAD
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval for the purchase of hydrated cement
slurry from Martin Marietta for the Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Projects - Streets Fund for an amount
not to exceed $235,000.
BACKGROUND: On October 19, 2021, the City Council authorized an interlocal agreement
with Tarrant County to reconstruct Oak Grove Loop, Snakey Lane, and
Hughes Road. This purchase is for hydrated cement that is to be applied
to the subgrade of these facilities with Tarrant County labor. The City will
pay this vendor directly.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with Tarrant County Texas. Purchases through this program
are authorized under Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the cooperative and a contract was awarded to Martin
Marietta. The Public Works Street and Purchasing Department staff
reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product
and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
