HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 10 - WindowsMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: DECEMBER 7, 2021
SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF WINDOW
REPLACEMENT FOR CITY HALL
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase and installation of
windows for City Hall with Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc. for the
Facility Services Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Replacement Fund (City Hall Repairs)
for an amount estimated at $292,976.
BACKGROUND: In 2018, City staff briefed the Facilities Committee on the need to plan for
the replacement of the windows in City Hall. The double sash widows are
not energy efficient and are experiencing rotting and seal leaks. The FY
2022 Operating Budget provided funding for this effort and the window
replacement was approved by the Historic Preservation Commission at its
November 17, 2021 meeting. The proposed windows will be a single sash
metal on wood frame window with matching mullions and color as exist
today. This purchase will provide for the removal and installation of 91
individual windows.
Purchases will be made as needed and in accordance with an existing
interlocal agreement with Omnia Partners Public Sector AS allowed by
Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government
Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the cooperative and a contract was awarded to
Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc. The Facility Services staff and
Purchasing reviewed the contract for specification compliance and pricing
and determined that the contract would provide the best service and
pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
