HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 01 - Election Results ITEM MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: JUNE 25, 2007 SUBJECT: RESULTS OF 20,07 CITY OFFICER RUN-OFF ELECTION RECOMMENDATION: Canvass the June 6, 2007 City Officer Run-off Election for City Council Place 3 and consider a resolution declaring the results of the run-off election. BACKGROUND: There are 26,430 registered voters in the City as of June 1, 2007. The run-off election was held on Saturday, June 16, 2007, with citizens casting a total of 2,000; votes for the following candidates: Council; Place 3 Mike Lease 1,157 Traci D: Wilkinson 033 By adoption of the attached 'resolution, Mike Lease is declared duly elected to said respective office, subject to the taking of the oath and filing bond as provided by the laws of this State and the ordinances of this City., Attached are copies of the unofficial election results as well asGrapevine's voting history. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE 2007 CITY OFFICER RUN-OFF ELECTION AND PROVIDING AN'' EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, there came to be considered the returns of a run-off election held on the 16th day of June, 2007 for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named official, and it appearing from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 2,090 valid and legal votes; and WHEREAS, each of the candidates in said election received the following votes: COUNCIL PLACE 3 Mike Lease. .1,157 Traci D. Wilkinson. .933 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That said run-off election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with law;'and that said election was held in accordance with law; and that the following named person was duly elected to the office indicated: Council Place 3 Mike Lease Section 2. That the said above person is hereby declared duly elected to said respective office, subject to the taking of the oath and filing bond as provided by the laws of this State and the ordinances of this City. Section 3. That this resolution shall'become effective from and after the date of its passage.
