A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS APPOINTING THE PERMANENT
BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE GRAPEVINE CRIME
CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine believes it is in the best interest of its residents
to create a Crime Control and Prevention District to ensure the health and welfare of
citizens; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 363 of the Texas Local Government Code (the "Code")
provides for the creation of a Crime Control and Prevention District by a municipality
located within a county with a population of more than 5,000; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas is located in Tarrant, Dallas and
Denton County Texas, all three with a population of more than 5,000; and
WHEREAS, at an election duly called and held on November 7, 2006, the voters
approved the adoption of a one-half of one percent (.5%) local sales tax for crime
control and prevention uses; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine City Council, pursuant to the Code, desires to
appoint itself as the permanent Board of Directors for the Grapevine Crime Control and
Prevention District; and
WHEREAS, each of the proposed directors has executed an officer's bond of
$5,000 payable to the Grapevine Crime Control and Prevention District and conditioned
on the faithful performance of the person's duties as a director and officer.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the preamble are true and correct and are
incorporated herein by reference, as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That a Crime Control and Prevention District composed of the
entire corporate limits of the City of Grapevine is hereby approved. The members of the
City Council of the City of Grapevine are hereby appointed to serve on the Board of
Directors of such district:
William D. Tate Ted R. Ware
Sharron Spencer C. Shane Wilbanks
Clydene Johnson Roy Stewart
Darlene Freed
All subsequent appointments will be made as provided for by the Code.
Section 3. That each of the appointed directors has executed an officer's bond
of $5,000 payable to the Grapevine Crime Control and Prevention District and
conditioned on the faithful performance of the person's duties as a director and officer.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage by
the Grapevine City Council.
