MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: APRIL 19, 2011
SUBJECT: FLOOD DAMAGE PREVENTION ORDINANCE AMENDMENT
RECOMMENDATIO
City Council consider adopting an ordinance amending Chapter 7, Article X, Flood
Damage Prevention, Section 7 -192, Basis for Establishing the Areas of Special Flood
Hazard, in its entirety and take any necessary action.
BACKGROUND:
This amendment addresses a minor modification in the requirements of City ordinances
under the National Flood Insurance Program.
Until recently, our Code of Ordinances only referenced the Flood Insurance Study and
associated maps for Tarrant County in which the majority of Grapevine lies.
The Texas Water Development Board and FEMA has advised us it is now a requirement
for our ordinances to also reference the Flood Insurance Studies in Dallas County and
Denton County.
The attached ordinance adds references to these two studies to the City Code of
Ordinances.
Staff recommends approval.
