SUBJECT: ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR VEHICLE TIRES, ACCESSORIES AND
RELATED SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of an annual contract for vehicle tires,
accessories and related services from Blagg Tire & Auto Service for the
Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Fleet Services) for an annual
estimated amount of $125,000.
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this contract is to establish fixed annual pricing for vehicle
tires, accessories and related services. Public Works Fleet Department
monitors, inspects, and maintains serviceable tires on all City vehicles and
equipment as required, meeting the Texas Department of Public Safety
State Inspections requirements. Blagg Tire provides tires for city fleet
inventory and 24/7 tire service for off -site emergency repairs.
This purchase will be made in accordance with existing and interlocal
agreements with Omnia Partners Public Sector, Region VIII Education
Service Center in Texas as allowed by Texas Local Government Code,
Section 271 and Texas Government Code, Section 791. The contract is
for an initial two-year period with one optional, five-year renewal.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Blagg
Tire & Auto Service. The Public Works and Purchasing staff reviewed the
contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and
determined that the contract would provide the best service and pricing for
meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
