The signs on the highway remain in place and state "Full Lane Closures" most of the time. This reduces the desire for the public to return at night to the businesses in Grapevine. -$ . I - Reduce the time that notice is posted on Web Page to more directly coincide with actual highway closures. This is the same TxDOT requirement for two week notification of lane closures and gives impression Grapevine is closed. Lists of closures weeks in advance overwhelm motorists and potentially drive them away from corridor and businesses unnecessarily. Gives motorists the impression that access thru Grapevine is locked down. Closures • Main Lanes — 9 pm (At present the closure time is 8 pm which does not allow for 2nd seating customers at restaurants) • Service Roads — 1' 0 pm (Currently 8 pm and allows 2nd seating customers for restaurants and lessens impact on late open businesses.) • Coordinate Main Lane Closures. During main lane closures don't reduce frontage road lanes. This effectively reduces freeway capacity, • Lane Closure & Lane Shift Coordination — Focus more attention on traffic flow design, lane closures and traffic shifts in light of the large number of accidents. Monitor traffic signal operations at the major intersections and adjust timing plans to optimize the operation as traffic demands fluctuate through construction phases. Provide Pull-Out Areas along Main Lanes for the Police Dept. to utilize in clearing accident damaged vehicles from the Main Lanes. Street Lights in Main Lane Corridor — Re-engage the corridor lighting system to improve visibility thru the construction corridor. Expand Lane Markings and Buttons to enhance efforts to improve their visibility to the motorist. This is particularly important at night and during rain events. 0:\stankDFVV Conn ector\Presen taflo ns\Council Notes — TxDOT Presentation 5-3.11 Rev
