A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS SUPPORTING THE PROPOSED
PRESERVATION, REHABILITATION AND ADAPTIVE USE
OF THE HISTORIC B & D MILLS AND FOR ITS
PARTICIPATION IN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S
HISTORIC REHABILITATION TAX CREDITS; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City Council has identified the need to preserve, rehabilitate,
restore and revitalize existing historic properties is critical to the revitalization of the City
of Grapevine; and
WHEREAS, the economic health and cultural vibrancy of downtown Grapevine is
critical to the overall well-being of the City of Grapevine, and
WHEREAS, the City Council created the Grapevine Main Street Program in
1984, an official Texas Main Street City, to economically revitalize and restore the
historic commercial core of Grapevine; and
WHEREAS, the B & D Mills, a longtime historic and cultural landmark, identifies
Grapevine to the agricultural history of the area and is a historic building contributing to
the significance of the Cotton Belt Railroad Industrial Historic District; and
WHEREAS, the preservation, rehabilitation and adaptive use of the B & D Mills
may provide a tax incentive through the federal Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the above preamble is found to be true and correct and is
incorporated into the body of this resolution as though set forth in its entirety herein.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas does hereby
fully support the preservation, rehabilitation and adaptive use of the B & D Mills Project
and encourage the support by the Texas Historical Commission and the National Park
Service to do the same.
Section 3. That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the state and federal
legislative delegations.
Section 4. That this resolution shall become effective from and after the date
of its passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 1st day of February, 2000.
