CITIZEN COMMENTS Rich Martin made comments about his golf experiences and spoke for 10 minutes. New Business 1) Robert Singletary mentioned the golf operation was running on all cylinders while rounds are slightly down revenue in every category is up. Overall revenue is up 2%. With the new clubhouse and nicer merchandise in the golf shop, merchandise revenue continues to be up... 24%. We are selling more golf equipment than ever before. The driving range continues to be full even with the new mats (up 27%). The new mats have helped with turf conditions as we are on the mats Monday – Thursday. We are getting more requests for outings of various sizes. We are blending these groups in with other play where we see fit. We were able to replace batteries in 64 carts with the new Trojan AC battery. The amp numbers are very positive with the new batteries. RS was promoted to Director of Golf; Eric Hunt was promoted to Head Golf Professional and we hired Gabe Altshule as assistant professional. RS has been talking to Stev Wolford to design a much-improved practice facility with the additions of a putting green, chipping green and possibly a par 3 course. RS and Merlin have also been in talks with a city engineer to design the reinforcement lake edges on Mockingbird #8 green and #9 tee. 2) RS informed the board about the discussions about the old clubhouse an d concourse on remodeling or any renovations that may take place. Any changes must make sense for the entire operation. If the concourse has any increase in business based upon any renovations, we would have to increase the number of parking spots. 2 3) Eric Hunt talked about the success he is having with his Get Golf Ready clinics. He has 2 Level 1 clinics and they have both been full. His May Level 2 clinic is full and he is taking signups for his June Level 1 clinic. The junior academy attendance has increase to 15 kids and Gabe is helping EH with these clinics. They have taken the kids on the course more the past couple of months and where they can blend in with other 9 holes play. 4) Michael Scheel discussed Persimmon’s past several months. They promoted Taylor to head chef since Koby left. Taylor implemented a new menu as of April 1 st. Revenue has increased with the extended hours and better golfing weather. On April 1 st the Bunker opened and has done very well. It is only open Friday – Sunday due to staffing but MS wants it open every day of the week but will need to increase his staff in order to do so. Pre-made food along with a vary of different drinks has been a bi g bonus. Tom Cherry asked about calling in orders before we arrive at Bunker and MS commented about the challenges of putting a phone in the Bunker. MS would like to use QR codes on the GPS to do advanced orders to speed up play. They have had some succ esses with finding a sponsor to help with the Par 3 contest with Tito’s Vodka being in attendance the 1st Par 3. A survey was conducted and sent to Annual Pass Holder, GGA members and Gold Card Holders. Some of the comments they are addressing are: prices to high, faster food, simple options, more staffing and more beverage cart presence. May will be a big month with several groups. 5) Merlin Tielkemeier commented about the golf course conditions . He is very disappointed with the chemical (PoaCure) they sprayed to treat and get rid of the poanna on the greens. He has started to mow the greens shorter in order to stress the poa for the immediate future. The heat of the summer will get rid of the poa, but talking with other superintendents they will be changing some of their pre-emergent schedules and chemicals they will use. Bermuda weather is a total temperature of 150 degrees (low & high temps added together). In general, the golf course is good but the increase in play the past 2 years has had its effect. MT will need to sod a couple of tee boxes, sod the front driving range tee and the entry work they completed a couple of weeks ago. RS got a text from Bryan Humphries that the girls finished 2nd place in regionals and made state. The Boys finished 5th but did not make state. Michael Chevalier qualified for the state.
