FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: MAY 3, 2022
SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF A REPLACEMENT TRAFFIC
POLE
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval for the purchase of a replacement
traffic pole from Consolidated Traffic Control for the Public Works Traffic
Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Projects Streets Fund for an amount not
to exceed $28,617.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for a replacement traffic signal pole and mast arm at
State Highway 26 and Pool/Brumlow. It appears the pole has been
damaged by large truck trailers turning northbound onto Brumlow.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with Houston -Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) as allowed by
Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government
Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
Consolidated Traffic Controls. The Public Works and Purchasing staff
reviewed the contracts for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contracts would provide the best products
and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
