SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST FOR
DISSOLVED OXYGEN SENSORS
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for
quote for dissolved oxygen sensors from HD Supply Facilities
Maintenance for the Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Utility Enterprise Fund for an amount not to
exceed $16,176.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for dissolved oxygen and oxidation-reduction potential
(ORP) sensors for the Treatment Train 1 aeration basin. The aeration
basins in Treatment Trains 2 and 3 already have this equipment installed
and operating. These sensors will help fine tune operation of the aeration
basin. We will have the ability to monitor dissolved oxygen levels real-time
along with having predictability trends from the ORP sensors.
Informal quotes were taken in accordance with the City Purchasing Policy.
Formal bids and advertisements are not required for purchases under
$50,000. Three quotes were submitted as noted below with HD Supply
Facilities Maintenance submitted the lowest quote meeting specifications.
HD Supply Facilities Maintenance $16,176.
Hach $18,189.
Cerlic Environmental $19,515.
Staff recommends approval.
