SUBJECT: RENEW AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR FIRE ALARM SYSTEM
INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE, AND SERVICE
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the renewal of an annual contract for fire alarm
system inspection, maintenance, and service with Texas Fire & Protection
Specialists, Inc. for the Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund for an annual estimated amount
of$30,000.
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this contract is to establish fixed pricing for annual testing
and repair on fire alarm systems in City facilities.
Purchases will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
cooperative agreement with Plano, Texas as allowed by Texas Local
Government Code, Section 271 and Texas Government Code, Section
791. The contract was for an initial one-year period with four, one-year
renewals. If approved, this will be for the first renewal available.
The City of Plano solicited proposals for fire alarm system inspection,
maintenance and service. Texas Fire and Protection Specialists, Inc. was
awarded a contract. The City of Grapevine has used Texas Fire and
Protection Specialists, Inc. in the past with positive results.
Staff recommends approval.
