A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO ALLOW FOR THE SALE OF ART PIECES CREATED FROM THE LOSS OF THE BICENTENNIAL PECAN TREE IN PARR PARK BY ANY APPROVED BIDDING PROCESS TO AT LEAST COVER THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE CREATION OF THE ART PIECES AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine recognized the Parr Park Bicentennial Pecan Tree by Resolution No. 90-08 as a historic tree; and WHEREAS, that designation protected it from removal or damage caused by any construction, development, or redevelopment; and WHEREAS, the Parr Park Bicentennial Tree stood for nearly 200 years and was recognized by the International Arboriculture Association; and WHEREAS, the Parr Park Bicentennial Tree provided aesthetic beauty and passive enjoyment for park visitors; and WHEREAS, the Parr Park Bicentennial Tree witnessed the development of The City of Grapevine from incorporation until it fell to the earth May 2, 2007. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the City Manager or his designee to have pieces of commissioned art pieces from this tree to be sold by any approved means available. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine requires that the revenues received at least cover the cost of the commissioned art pieces. Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 18th day of December, 2007.
