The CAC recommends the bid contract be awarded to Commercial Fitness Solutions (vendor #2): 1) Item 1 quoted by FitCO does not meet the bid specifications. The specifications required a lower back/abdominal machine while the model that FitCO quoted is solely a lower back machine. 2) Item 2 quoted by FitCO does not meet the bid specifications. The specifications required a pectoral fly/rear deltoid machine while the model quoted by FitCO is solely a pectoral fly machine. 3) Item 3 quoted by FitCO does not meet the bid specifications. The bid specifications for Item 3 were a Cybex-5420 which has a built in weight tree and pull up bar. Item 3 quoted by FitCO is a basic power cage with no weight tree or pull-up bar. This means that additional purchases would be required to meet these needs. 4) Item 4 quoted by FitCO meets bid specifications, however, the model quoted by FitCO operates on a guide rail that requires maintenance and is subject to rusting while the model quoted by Commercial Solutions does not operate on a guide rail. The second issue is that the CAC fitness room already has three of the models quoted by Commercial Fitness Solutions and the model recommended by FitCO will take away from the uniformity of the CAC fitness room. 5) Item 6 quoted by FitCO is of equal quality to that of Item 6 quoted by Commercial Fitness Solutions and meets bid specifications, however, the model quoted by FitCO is not user friendly to patrons of larger stature while the model quoted by Commercial Fitness Solutions provides equal access for patrons of all shapes and sizes. 6) Finally, the CAC currently has uniformed strength equipment and uniformed cardiovascular equipment in it's fitness room. The CAC desires to keep a uniformed look and functionality in it's fitness room equipment. The lowest bid by FitCO will add five pieces of strength equipment to the CAC fitness room that do not coordinate with the current look or functionality of the strength equipment that it provides. By awarding the bid to Commercial Fitness Solutions, who provided the strength equipment during phase I and phase II of this project, all nine pieces that are being added in FY08 (phase III) will remain in that same uniformity that was accomplished during phases I & II.
