4. OLD BUSINESS
Membership Report - Janet Perkins
Secretary Perkins announced total memberships had stayed in the 190-193 members range through
January, February and March with donations made and the Livestock Conservation Grant for Nash
Farm.
Council Liaison Duff O'Dell stated there was no longer a $50 membership level as budgeted for the
Grapevine Historical Society's regular membership with the Foundation. Chairman Ratliff said the
Executive Committee would review for an organizational membership level.
Sponsorship Report — Balla Wright
Farm Manager Cody Jolliff reported for Treasurer Balla Wright, sponsorship totals were now at
$18,500 of the $20,000 goal for 2021 with annual sponsors; The National Bank of Texas and Wright
Construction Company sponsorships were fulfilled. Nash Farm is asking for additional sponsorships
for two suppers, all love the Fall Harvest Moon Supper and now planning an April 23 Spring Farm to
Fork Supper.
Chairman Ratliff called for questions, or comments; there were none.
Nash Farm Report — Vice Chairman Melva Stanfield
Vice Chairman Melva Stanfield reported there were 449 visitors to Nash Farm in February with
attendance lowered by the week long ice storm. The March First Friday program "Spring at the Farm'
had 150 attendees. Nash Farm was one of nine recipients to receive a grant from the National
Livestock Association; the Farm's grant of $2,000 will be used to rebuild the corral at the barn.
Chairman Ratliff recollected when the corral was built with Joe Wright bringing his tractor to drill the
post holes for the fencing; he asked Farm Manager Cody Jolliff to contact Leroy McCain to participate

in some role of the rebuild as he was part of the original construction. Council Liaison O'Dell asked if
there were photographs of building the corral with Leroy and Balla.
5. NEW BUSINESS
Question & Answer Review of the GHF 2020 Educational Series — Dr. Curtis Ratliff
Chairman Ratliff asked if the board members had questions from the sessions presented in 2020;
with none, he asked the group to ponder on and bring questions or comments to the next meeting.
Plans for Spring Into Nash — Cody Jolliff
Farm Manager Jolliff passed out flyers for the 19th Annual Spring Into Nash saying they will return to
the original format, but keeping social distancing and sanitizers in place; they will need stand by
volunteers for the pony rides, skills and trades and other activities. Next year will be the 20th Annual
SPIN with plans to do it up real big; with the pandemic out of the way, they should be back to normal
and all feeling good.
Nash Farm 2021 Events
Nash Farm had been lucky with being able to continue on to some degree with the great outdoors.
With five Iambs dropped this past week, it is time for some naming rights ($100) for the Gulf Coast
registered sheep and to sign on more Honorary Farm Shepherds ($250) as Mike and Carolyn Lease
are. Executive Director Paul W. McCallum said farmers pray for all ewes with five to six years bearing
more Iambs, they will be able to sell off a few in a couple of years to contribute to continuing the
breed.
6. DISTRIBUTION OF LIAISON REPORTS
Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) Report — Paul W. McCallum
Executive Director Paul W. McCallum reported former Director of Operations Paula Newman had
departed from the CVB and was now in Amarillo with the American Quarter Horse Association as
their Chief of Operations Officer.
Congratulations to Cody and Tara Jolliff on the birth of their first child, Arthur Theodore Jolliff was
born February 6, 2021 at 1:50 p.m. weighing in at four pounds and 10 ounces; and now officially
welcomed to the Grapevine Heritage Foundation.
By tradition the Grapevine CVB has hosted a New York City St. Patrick's Day group of hoteliers and
50 — 150 meeting planners as a large percentage of meetings in Grapevine are booked in New York.
The sales team's targeted top planners were sent small bottles of wine and charcuterie boards to
participate virtually with our Grapevine sales team stationed at the Messina Hof Winery. The sales
manager and a "female Leprechaun" had been filmed visiting our hotels to look like a visit to each
chat room for today's virtual meeting; the team received all positive comments from the planners, with
them all wishing they were in Grapevine for St. Patrick's Day!
3 GHF March 17, 2021
17 March 2021
The sales team has continued to sell, keeping restaurants and shops open. Leisure sales began in a
50-mile radius, then pushed out to a 200-mile radius in order to keep our merchants going. The
Palace Arts Center, Nash Farm and Grapevine Vintage Railroad are already moving forward with
events, New Vintage was easily adapted, Main Street Fest was more difficult with a focus on
merchants here as more of a street fair with our civic service clubs providing the food and drink on the
street, using the Cotton Belt Depot and the Grapevine Main Peace Plaza to put the Grapevine
presence out front. "Save the Date" for the official opening of Grapevine Main on April 24, 2021 from
11 a.m. — 2 p.m. with the Plaza as a great public and private project and partnering with TEXRail and
Trinity Authority.
The severe February weather event put a hold on making the mold for the Choppin' Cotton art piece,
with all slowed down due to Winter Storm Uri.
City Council Liaison Update — Council Member Duff O'Dell
Council Liaison O'Dell stated the City did receive stimulus money, very happy with a big package of
$12M with stipulations. The Grapevine Historical Society's 2019 Lifetime Membership Awards were
named in November as Bill and Mae Pearl Powers and Gayle Hall, all very honored and with a great
history with the Powers. The only GHS meeting for the 2020 year will be in September at the new
Grapevine Main Harvest Hall.
All were still recovering from the long freeze and damages from no electricity in many places;
recovery would not be quick, but all were looking forward to April!
Board Member Emerita Pat Stinson had been in poor health, having a difficult time and now has a
pacemaker. Keep Pat in mind, send her a card.
Chairman Ratliff said the last City Council report noted the City employees who worked many hours
through the freeze; Grapevine's citizens are very grateful for their help with really no way to pay them
back but their appreciation, for so much done. He noted Matt Feryan, Grapevine's Emergency
Management Coordinator, as an amazing young man who did a model job of bringing Grapevine
safely through Winter Storm Uri.
ADJOURNMENT
Courtney Fray, seconded by Melva Stanfield, made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:10 p.m.
The motion prevailed by the following vote:
