SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF AWARD OF BID 253-2006 TO PURCHASE
SIGNAL CONDITIONING AND PUMP CONTROL
MODIFICATIONS TO THE SCADA SYSTEM AT THE WATER
TREATMENT PLANT
RECOMMENDATION
City Council to consider award of'bid 253-2006 to Mid-Tex Controls for the purchase of
signal conditioning and pump control modifications to the Supervisory Control and Data
Acquisition (SCADA) system at the Water Treatment Plant. The total of this award will not
exceed $23,450.00.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding is available in'account # 200-43360-534-0 (Utility Enterprise Fund/Water Supply
Infrastructure Maint/Perm Capital Maint.)...................................................$34,500 00
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B,
Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a) The bid advertisement posted in the Fort
Worth Star-Telegram on February 2, 2006 and February 9, 2006.
This request is to approve the purchase of signal conditioning and pump control
modifications to the SCADA system at the Water Treatment Plant. The bid tabulation is
attached for review. This purchase was approved during the budget process for this fiscal
year.
Bids were issued to six vendors and publicly opened on February 24 2006. Two vendors
responded to the invitation. The lowest bid received from Mid-Tex Controls and met all
bid requirements and was under the budget estimate listed above.
Staff checked the references given by Mid-Tex Controls and found that they have
performed excellent work for other Cities,
Staff recommends this project be awarded to Mid-Tex Controls in the total amount of
23,450,00.
