Discussion for Possible Consideration A. Consideration of Molly King, 3256 Shady Glen Drive, to serve as the Student Liaison to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board B. Consideration of matching grants from the Grapevine-Southlake Soccer Assn. and the Challenge Soccer Club for the development of soccer fields and amenities at Meadowmere Park and improvements to Oak Grove soccer fields. DIRECTOfR(OF PARKS AND RECREATION C7Y OF GRAPEVNE COUNTY OF TARRA,NT STATE OF TEAS The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, June 8, 1995 at 7:00 p.m. at 421 Church Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit: Denise Gasmire Linda Dobbs Willis John Fox Craig Neill Doug McKelvey Absent: Robert Brunson Marion Brekken Roland Johnson The following City Staff were present: Doug Evans Guests: Bob Brousard Roy Robertson Donald Florence Larry Atchley Lisa Haines arrived @ 7:20 pm Shane Wilbanks Joe Moore The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Denise Gasmire. Craig Neil, Doug McKelvey, Linda Dobbs Willis and Roy Robertson were sworn in as members. Motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Craig Neil to elect Denise Gasmire as Chairman. Motion passed unanimously. Motion was made by Larry Atchley and seconded by Denise Gasmire to elect Roy Robertson as Vice Chairman. Motion was passed unanimously. Motion was made by Linda Dobbs Willis and seconded by Donald Florence to elect Larry Atchley as Secretary. Motion passed unanimously. Motion was made by Craig Neil and seconded by Linda Dobbs Willis to approve the minutes of the May 11, 1995 Parks and Recreation Board minutes. Motion passed unanimously. ITIZEN REQUESTS Adopt -A -Park: Program was proposed by Craig Neil for his homeowners association to adopt the west side of Big Bear Creek Nature Preserve. Packets will be presented Main Street Days was discussed. It was suggested to move the location of the booth to previous years site. There was interest in the wood slices and the maps were a hit. Bob Brousard, guest, wants to make sure that the future lights at Oak Grove Soccer are pointed or deflected away from residential areas. John Fox called 911 at 11:18 pm on June 2 about kids walking in neighborhood around Horseshoe Trails and no one responded. Follow up: two officers responded but no report at 11 :33 pm. Lisa Haines was sworn in as a Park Board member. DISCUSSION FOR POSSIBLE CONSIDERATION John Fox made a motion to consider Molly King for Student Liaison for Park Board. Craig Neil seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. Grapevine/Southlake Soccer Association and Challenge Grant Proposal - GSSA is asking for $5,000 for Meadowmere Park, matching their $5,000. Challenge Soccer is asking for $5,000 for Meadowmere Park, matching their $5,000. GSSA is asking for $5,000 for Oak Grove Park, matching their $5,000. Larry Atchley motioned to approve the grants contingent that one organization can have two grants in one year. Discussion ensued concerning partial payment by Southlake. Donald Florence seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. SH 26 - Doug Evans gave an update on negotiations with DART and the Hwy 26 Trail. Staff expects to receive an agreement next week. Lake Grapevine Trail - Trail concentration has shifted to east end of trail at four corners area then moving to the west. Community Activity Center - In-line rink proposed to be put at Grapevine Middle School. Meeting on June 20, 1995 at GMS to determine compatibility with school.
