DIRE OR OF PARKS & RECREATION The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, June 21, 2001 at 7-00 p.m. at the Senior Activities Center, 421 Church Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: Larry Francis Art Pierce Roy Robertson Barb Johnson Ryan Wade Hayden Smith Absent: Julie Florence Stan Hinson David Benedetto Staff: Doug Evans Joe Moore Guests: Ray Harris Susan Harris Irene Fountain Clydene Johnson William Cherry Art Pierce called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. Introductions were made, Shane Wilbanks explained the transition of liaison positions from Council. Clydene Johnson gave an opening statement to the rest of the Board and visitors. A motion was made by Barb Johnson and seconded by Stan Hinson to approve the minutes as written of the May 10, 2001 meeting. The motion passed unanimously. Citizen Requests Grapevine Runners & Walkers Club (RAW) representative spoke to the Board. RAW informed the Board that they have approximately 260 members and support several local charitable organizations with proceeds from their races. Events coming up are: • GRACE .5K and 1 OK ® Hound Dog Hussle 5K and 1 mile run ® (to be named) 1 OK RAW made a presentation of a plaque to Doug Evans, New Business A motion was made by Stan Hinson and seconded by Larry Francis to renew the Adopt -A - Road agreement with the Knights of Columbus #7099 for Boyd Street. The motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Stan Hinson to renew the Adopt - A -Road agreement with the McCracken Family for Kimball Road, from Silvercrest Lane to Lake Ridge Drive. The motion passed unanimously. Miscellaneous Staff Reports Barb Johnson reported on the Beautification Committee meeting. The Board was given an update on the following projects, • Status of Trail Projects • Botanical Gardens at Heritage Park • Recreation Events • Meadowmere Park Development • Park Development & Landscaping Projects • In-line hockey rink improvements • Oak Grove Park improvements Staff gave a presentation on the Trails of Grapevine.
