The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, August 9, 2001 at 7:05
p.m. at the Senior Activities Center, 421 Church Street, Grapevine, Texas with the
following members present, to wit:

Larry Francis
Doug Evans

Art Pierce

Ryan Wade
Julie Florence
Barb Keeney — GCISD Liaison
Vice Chairperson Hayden Smith called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
There were no citizen requests.
A presentation was given to outgoing Board member Art Pierce for his years on the Parks
Board and as Chairperson.
A letter was read from Brandon Simon.
Old Business
The Parks and Recreation booth at Grapefest was discussed. To be included in the booth
will be information on the following:
• Playbooks • Youth Sports • Botanic Gardens
• Trail Plan • Library Plan • Keep GV Beautiful
• Corps of Engineers
Ryan Wade and Art Pierce will work on the set-up of the booth at 3:00 p.m. on Friday the
7th
Also included in the booth will be five 5 -gallon trees for the tree give -a -way.
New Business
The Grand Opening Ceremony for the Botanic Gardens at Heritage Park will be August
23th at 8:30 a.m. Policies on reservations of the Gardens are being developed.
A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Terry Allen to approve the renewal
of the Adopt -A -Road agreement with the Grapevine American Business Club for Main
Street. The motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Julie Florence to have the annual
tour of parks and facilities on Saturday, October 13th at 8:30 a.m., beginning at the Senior
Center. Lunch will be furnished.
Miscellaneous Board Reports
Discussion included to paint foul lines and kill grass around field #12 in a 9' radius at Oak
Grove Baseball.
Workday at Horseshoe Trails will be August 26th. Roy Robertson will be at Horseshoe
Trails from 8:00 a.m. — noon Sunday.
Miscellaneous Staff Reports
The Board was given an update on the following projects.
• Status of Trail Projects
Big Bear Creek Trail
y Oak Grove Trail
Silverlake Trail
• Community Activities Center
• Park Development & Landscaping Projects
A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Roy Robertson to adjourn. The
motion passed unanimously. Time: 8:39 P.M.
