FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: JUNE 21, 2022
SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR POLICE UNIFORMS
AND EQUIPMENT.
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of an annual contract for uniforms and
equipment with GT Distributors and Got You Covered Workwear and
Uniforms for the Police Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the CCPD Fund (Police Department) for an
estimated amount of $20,000.
BACKGROUND: The purpose of these contracts is to provide uniforms and equipment for
the Police Department. The contracts that will be established with these
two separate vendors, GT Distributors and Got You Covered Workwear
and Uniforms. These two contracts will be secondary uniform and
equipment contracts. The Department's primary contract is with a different
vendor. By establishing these two additional contracts, the Department will
be able to purchase some necessary items at a reduced price.
Purchases will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative
(BuyBoard) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271
and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791. This contract is for an initial
one-year period with options to renew for two additional years.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and contracts were awarded to GT
Distributors and Got You Covered Workwear and Uniforms. The Police
and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification
compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide
the best service and pricing for meeting the needs of the City. The City of
Grapevine has used GT Distributors and Got You Covered Workwear and
Uniforms in the past with positive results and has been successful.
Staff recommends approval.
