SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF PURCHASE OF HYDRATED CEMENT SLURRY FOR
WEST HUGHES ROAD
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval for the purchase of hydrated cement
slurry from Martin Marietta for the Public Works Street Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Projects Streets Fund for an amount not
to exceed $34,393.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for hydrated cement slurry that is to be applied to the
subgrade of West Hughes Road by Tarrant County. On October 19, 2021,
the City Council authorized an interlocal agreement with Tarrant County
for the reconstruction on Oak Grove Loop, Snakey Lane, and Hughes
Road. Under terms of the agreement, the City will pay for all materials and
fuel and the County will provide labor and equipment. The project limits
are from Euless -Grapevine to the State Highway 121 frontage road.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreements with Tarrant County Texas. Purchases through this program
are authorized under Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the cooperative and a contract was awarded to Martin
Marietta. The Public Works Street and Purchasing Department staff
reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product
and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
