SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF AWARD OF BID 255-2006; TO PURCHASE A
TWO AXLE VEHICLE TRAILER
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider award of bid 255-2006 to C & S Trailer World for a two axle
vehicle trailer for the Convention and Visitors Bureau. The total of this award will not
exceed $25 782.80.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds were budgeted in the amount of and are available in account 115-4810-350-1
CUB Fund/Motor Vehicles/Administration...................... ....... ..............$45,000.00
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local.Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B,
Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid advertisement posted in the Fort
Worth Star Telegram on February 9, 2006 and February 16, 2006.
This request is to approve the purchase of a two-axle vehicle trai
ler for the Convention
and Visitors Bureau for the primary use of transporting "Miss Grapevine" to out of town
events that promote our community. Bids were issued to five vendors and publicly
opened on March 3, 2006. One vendor responded to the invitation. The bid received
from C & 8 Trailer World in Fort Worth, Texas. The bid submitted met all bid
requirements and specifications.
The non-responding companies ;are all known suppliers for this commodity. One
company indicated they could not supply the trailer due to closing their business This
company was consulted before bids were issued and indicated they could supply the
trailer. Another vendor indicated they did receive the bid but could not respond because
the bid was lost, Two out of state vendors indicated they could not respond due to current
work loads.
Because C & S Trailer'World met all bid requirements, Staff recommends an award to
C & S Trailer World in the total amount of 25,782.80.
