Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the Senior Citizen
Advisory Board under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item by completing
a Citizen Appearance Request form with the staff. A member of the public may
address the Senior Citizen Advisory Board regarding an item on the agenda either
before or during the Board’s consideration of the item, upon being recognized by the
Chairman or upon the consent of the Senior Citizen Advisory Board in accordance
with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the Senior Citizen Advisory Board is restricted in
discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments.

The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Senior Citizens Advisory Board met July 5, 2022 at 1:00
p.m. in The REC of Grapevine, 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine, Texas with the following members
present, to -wit:

Constituting a quorum with the following members of City staff:

Roger Jones called the meeting to order at 1:06 p.m.
A moment of silence was observed. Roger Jones led the invocation.
Citizen Comments
Joan Thomas spoke about housing in Grapevine.
Approval of Minutes
A motion was made to approve the April 5, 2022 meeting minutes.

Presentation:
Trent Kelley and Nadia Gentry gave an update on The REC and Active Adults covering summer
program successes, new staffing, facility maintenance studies, and Active Adult events. Trent
announced the closure of The REC from Tuesday, September 6 through Saturday, September 10 to
allow for major maintenance atthe facility.
Miscellaneous:
Chris Smith gave the council update on behalf of Duff O'Dell (absent). Updates included a new art

experience, Meow Wolf, coming to Grapevine Mills Mall and the construction of Chicken N Pickle.
Terri Rhodes -Cantu gave a housing authority update. The Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD) will be coming for inspections Monday, July25. The housing authority also made
the decision to voluntarily participate in a new protocol for interior inspection, which will begin 2023.
Christine Szymaszek gave a GRACE update. There are 100 clients in the Friends & Family program
for senior assistance and the Grocery Giveaway program will be taking place this summer.
Isabelle Boyd gave an Active Adults update. The Grapevine Senior Choir will be taking a break until
after Labor Day.
Carey Miller announced that he will plan to relay information regarding The Commission?
Chris Smith gave a Parks and Recreation update. Updates included new staffing, an Independence
Dayfireworks celebration recap, the construction of the newpark located at Dove Road and Panhandle
Drive, ou tdoor su mmer camps, and the Govern or's Commu n ityAch ievementAward for Category 7 th at
was awarded to Keep Grapevine Beautiful.
A guest appearance was made by Ms. SuperSenior Universe, Barbara Ann Reincke.
