SUBJECT: CONSULTATION AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT FOR TRAUMA -
BASED EDUCATION AND PEER RESPONSE PROGRAM FOR THE
FIRE DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval of a contract for consultation and
program development for a trauma -based education and peer response
program from RGI Readiness Group, LLC for the Fire Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Fire Department) for an annual
estimated amount of $21,000.
BACKGROUND: The work of a Firefighter/Paramedic requires resiliency. The Department's
Peer Support Team was established to take care of Fire personnel after
they encounter a difficult situation. The primary focus of the Peer Support
Team is to establish a culture of resiliency within our organization and a
member assistance pathway that addresses issues that get in the way of
that resiliency. The Readiness Group provides a proven process and
training that will help the team promote resiliency and satisfaction within
the department.
This procurement will be made as a sole source purchase in accordance
with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, § 252.022.
General Exemptions (a) (7) (A).
