FUNDING SOURCE: Upon approval of the above recommendation, additional funds will be available in the Utility Enterprise Capital fund and Capital Project Street fund in the estimated amount of $115,000. BACKGROUND: At the April 19 and May 3, 2022 City Council meetings, Council approved resolutions approving the Tarrant County contract with McClendon Construction Company, Inc. for the 47th and 48th Year Community Development Block Grant street reconstruction project and appropriated $1,120,228.48 in Capital Project Street fund 178 and Utility Enterprise Capital fund 201. The scope of the project is the reconstruction of the 600 and 700 blocks of East Worth Street (from Austin to Ruth Streets) including concrete paving, gutters, sidewalks, handicap ramps, parking spaces and driveway approaches, as well as a replacement and lowering of a 6" waterline in the 600 block of East Worth Street. These two blocks run adjacent to Faith Christian School. The original scope of work included lowering the waterline in one block that was too shallow to remain in place. During construction, the water line in the block to remain was found to be too shallow. This change order covers the additional cost to lower the waterline in the second block. The application process requires that the following statement be included in the memo: "The City shall be responsible for all costs of the 47th Year and 48th Year CDBG project that exceeds the amount of the grant fund." Staff recommends approval.
