HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 16 - Visitor Shuttle ITEM, -. ._ _- - MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL act- FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER 1 MEETING DATE: OCTOBER 20, 2009 SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO PURCHASE GRAPHIC SERVICES FOR BUSES TO BE USED IN THE GRAPEVINE VISTOR SHUTTLE PROGRAM RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of the purchase of graphic design services from Big Image Graphics for graphic design of the buses to be used in the Grapevine Visitor Shuttle Program in the total amount of$19,860.00. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in account 216-44540-350-12 Shuttle Services Fund/Professional Services/Shuttle Services/Administration. BACKGROUND: In accordance with purchasing policy, Staff solicited written quotations for this purchase. House Bill 3506 raised the formal bid limit requirement from $25,000.00 to $50,000.00. Effective September 1, 2007, formal bids and advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000.00. A copy of the bid tabulation is attached for review. The City recently purchased four shuttle buses as part of the Grapevine Visitor Shuttle Program. As part of the program, the buses will be wrapped in enlarged vinyl photographs depicting Grapevine's shopping, dining and entertainment venues. The photographs will be on the passenger boarding side of the vehicle. The opposite side will have one large photo with either the Grapevine Vintage Railroad or Lake Grapevine. The buses will take on the role of mobile billboards as well as providing transportation. Staff recommends approval of the purchase of the graphic services from Big Image Graphics in the total amount of$19,860.00.
