SUBJECT: DISPOSITION OF PUBLIC LAND AT 1937 CAMELOT DRIVE
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the disposition of public land at 1937 Camelot
Drive to the property owners at 1929 Camelot Drive and 1943 Camelot
Drive.
FUNDING SOURCE: Not Applicable
BACKGROUND: The lot at 1937 Camelot Drive is a vacant tract of land known as Lot 9,
Block 1 Canterbury Village Addition. This lot originally housed a water well
for the subdivision. The well has long been capped and the property is too
small to develop as a single family lot (9,328 sf in R12.5 zoning). The two
adjacent owners approached the City about each purchasing half the City
owned property.
The appraisal determined that 1937 Camelot Drive was a non-economic
unit and its best use would be assemblage with an adjoining use or uses.
The lot will be divided into two equal parcels and the owners will submit a
replat to incorporate the purchase into their original lots.
The property owners have agreed to purchase the land for the appraised
values as well as reimburse for surveying, platting and the appraisal cost.
Each adjacent property owner will pay$13,914 as detailed below:
Survey $ 1,431.50
Appraisal $ 1,800.00
Land Cost $ 9,000.00
Platting $ 1,682.50
TOTAL $13,914.00
Staff recommends approval.
