The total cost of this purchase is not to exceed $593,321. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds for this expenditure are available in the Capital Equipment/ Machinery Purchase Fund/ Motor Vehicles/ FY2012 Acquisitions account in the amount of $593,321. BACKGROUND: This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing Interlocal Agreement with the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard.com) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102. COOPERATIVE PURCHASING PROGRAM. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Martin Apparatus Inc. under contract number 323 -09. The Interlocal Agreement and Cooperative Purchasing Agreement satisfy all Kidding requirements under the Local Government Code. This purchase is for one Pierce Velocity PUC Pumper Fire Truck. The Fire Department received approval to purchase this new pumper in the Vehicle and Equipment Replacement List for FY2012 on September 13, 2011. This purchase will replace asset 10107 Reserve Freightliner. Martin Apparatus, Inc. meets all specifications and total pricing submitted is within the amount budgeted for this fiscal year. Pierce Manufacturing has a proven track record of manufacturing excellent fire service apparatus and providing exemplary after the sale November 9, 2011 (8:11 al l /pl l ) service. This will be the third purchase of a Pierce fire apparatus by the City with the last being in December of 2008. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR THE CITY MANAGER'S DESIGNEE TO PURCHASE A NEW PIERCE PUMPER FIRE TRUCK THROUGH AN ESTABLISHED INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas is a local government in the State of Texas and as such is empowered by the Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102 to enter into a cooperative purchasing program agreement with other qualified entities in the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard.com) is a qualified purchasing cooperative program as authorized by Section 271.102 of the Texas Local Government Code; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas, has established an Interlocal Agreement with the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard.com) and wishes to utilize established contracts meeting all State of Texas bidding requirements; and WHEREAS, the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard.com) has established a contract with Martin Apparatus Inc, under contract #323 -09, for fire apparatus; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas has a need to replace a fire engine. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That all matters stated in above preamble are true and correct and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase of a new Pierce Pumper Fire Truck through an lnterlocal Agreement with the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buyboard.com) for $593,321.00. Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps necessary to consummate the purchase of said products and services. Section 4. That the purchase price of this pumper fire truck will be funded by the sale of future certificates of obligation. Section 5.
