with these caucuses, THSRTC is able to monitor and impact key legislation. On October 16, 2008, President
Bush signed into law the Rail Safety Improvement Act of 2008, which, in addition to other landmark high speed
rail initiatives, included specific language mandating that the Federal Rail Administration conduct a series of
important studies along the Texas T-Bone Corridor. THSRTC members and representatives are working
diligently with members of the new Administration and the THSRTC Congressional Caucus to ensure that Texas
secures an appropriate portion of the $8 billion designated for intercity high speed passenger rail in the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Please join THSRTC. We need your help. It is now more important than ever that those cities and counties in
Texas create and sustain a collective focus on making our project a champion for high speed rail:in the United
States. The City of Grapevine has the opportunity to help make this project a reality now rather than later, and to
ensure that high speed rail positively impacts economic growth in the City of Grapevine for generations to come.
We believe that the City of Grapevine can and should be a valuable partner in this effort, and we strongly
encourage you to consider active membership in our organization for FYE2009.
Smaller dues. Bigger impact. To make your decision an easier one, we are pleased to inform you that our dues
pale in comparison to the scope of consulting services Dean International, Inc. provides. Furthermore, our public
policy consultants,Dean International, Inc., have expanded their scope of services, particularly with regard to our
communications strategy, at no additional cost to THSRTC members, so there has never been a better time to join.
Pursuant to the By-Laws, the annual dues for a city with a population between 20,000 and 49,999 are$12,500. In
becoming a member of THSRTC, the City of Grapevine can make a direct impact on the future of state
transportation and position itself at the forefront of the high speed rail movement in Texas. We look forward to
working with you to create an appropriate leadership position within the Corporation and hope you strongly
consider this strategic development opportunity.
