SUBJECT: 34TH YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
(CDBG) PROGRAM — CONTRACT APPROVAL
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council consider approving the Tarrant County contract with Patco Utilities in the
amount of$94,600.24 for the 34TH Year Community Development Block Grant waterline
replacement project, authorize staff to forward the approval recommendation to Tarrant
County officials, and take and necessary action.
FUNDING SOURCE:
CDBG funding for construction of this project is in the amount of$59,577.
During this project's public hearing on February 19, 2008, the City of Grapevine's allocated
funding for this project in an amount of$72,740.00 from the Water PCMF,Account#200-
43360-534-0. This City participation will fund the balance of construction and provide a
contingency.
BACKGROUND:
This project consists of the replacement of an existing 6" cast iron waterline with a new 6"
PVC waterline in Worth Street, between Wood and Ruth Streets. These improvements will
contribute to the upgrade of the area by providing improved water quality and better fire
protection.
Next year's CDBG project will be a follow up project to this waterline project with the
reconstruction of Worth Street between Dooley and Austin Streets as well as between Ruth
and Eckley Streets.
There were a total of 14 bidders on this project. The bids were as follows:

The low bidder, Patco Utilities, has been identified as an acceptable choice for this type of
project.
The contract schedule for the project establishes a construction time of 60 calendar days.
Staff recommends approval.
