HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 09 - Pavement Marking and Striping MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGE _-
MEETING DATE: MARCH 3, 2009 kt-
SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO RENEW AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR
PAVEMENT MARKING AND STRIPING SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval to renew an annual contract for the purchase of
pavement marking and striping services on an as-needed basis from Texas Highway
Markings, Inc. Annual expenditures will be limited to the budgeted amount for this
service. A bid tabulation with annual estimated quantities and pricing is attached for
review.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in account 178-78106-014 Capital Projects-Streets/Traffic Signal,
Signing, Striping/Traffic.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid was advertised in the Fort
Worth Star Telegram on August 2, 2006 and August 9, 2006. Bids were issued to seven
vendors with one vendor responding. Council first approved this contract to Texas
Highway Markings, Inc. in 2006 and again in 2007.
This bid established fixed annual pricing for the purchase of pavement marking and
striping services to be ordered as-needed by the Traffic Division. The specifications
requested fixed annual pricing for 31 items including mobilization, pavement applications
and various pavement markings and striping.
The initial contract approved was for one-year and included four, one-year options to
renew. If approved, this would be the second renewal. Texas Highway Markings, Inc.
has provided this service in the past with satisfactory results and has agreed to renew
the contract with no increase in pricing.
Staff recommends approval of the Texas Highway Markings, Inc. renewal offer that will
establish a fixed pricing contract for an additional one-year period.
