SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO PURCHASE LIGHT POLES AND LAMPS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider award of a purchase order to Lightall, Inc. for the purchase of 20
light poles and 38 lamps for the First United Methodist parking lot in the total amount of
$23,362.90.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in account 121-48899-312-09-000003 Council Quality of Life
Fund/Infrastructure Improvements/Parks and Recreation.
BACKGROUND:
In accordance with purchasing policy, Staff solicited written quotations for this purchase.
House Bill 3506 raised the formal bid limit requirement from $25,000 to $50,000.
Effective September 1, 2007, formal bids and advertisements are not required for
purchases under $50,000.
This purchase is for the First United Methodist parking lot lighting on Ball Street. The
parking lot will have 20 light poles with multiple fixtures on some poles. The lights will be
provided with a timer that can regulate the time to turn the lights off and on. The light
fixtures are adjustable and will allow Staff to rotate the fixtures thereby limiting the
illumination to the parking lot only. Delivery of the lights is four to five weeks. The parking
lot construction is anticipated to be completed by the first week of April. The lights will be
installed by the second week of April.
In accordance with City purchasing policy, Staff solicited three written quotations for this
purchase. The lowest quotation received that met all material requirements was from
Lightall, Inc. A copy of the bid tabulation is attached for review.
Staff recommends an award to Lightall, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $23,362.
