SUBJECT: WORKSHOP —ALTERNATE BOARD MEMBER TERMS
BACKGROUND:
Discuss amending the terms from two years to one year for alternates serving on the
following boards and commission:
Building Board of Appeals - The membership consists of seven members and one first
alternate member, all of whom shall serve for a term of two years. Ordinance No. 99-85
amended Chapter 7, Article I, Section 7-4 of the Grapevine Code of Ordinances. The
amendment combined membership of the Housing and Building Board of Appeals, the
Mechanical Board of Appeals, the Plumbing Board of Appeals and the Electrical Board
of Appeals into the Building Board of Appeals.
Convention & Visitors Bureau Advisory Board - The Board shall consist of seven
members and two alternate members who shall serve for a term of two years.
Ordinance No. 94-41 amended Chapter 21 Taxation, Section 21-29 of the Grapevine
Code of Ordinances.
Historic Preservation Commission — The Commission consists of seven members
and two alternates. Ordinance No. 97-80 amended Appendix G, Section 3(a), Historic
Preservation by the addition of two alternate members. Section 3(c) states the members
shall serve for a term of two years.
Board of Zoning Adjustments - Appendix D, Section 68 establishes the Board of
Zoning Adjustments consisting of five members and three alternate members. All
members shall serve for a term of two years. This Board membership is statutory and
cannot be altered.
Planning & Zoning Commission — Consists of seven members that serve three-year
terms and two alternates that serve one-year terms.
The remainder of the City boards do not have alternate members.
