HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 03 - Austin Oaks Drainage Channel Project ITEM #
MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
DATE: DECEMBER 2, 2008
SUBJECT: CHANGE ORDER # 1 & FINAL, JONES BRANCH / AUSTIN
OAKS DRAINAGE CHANNEL PROJECT -
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council consider approving Change Order# 1 & Final to the Jones Branch Drainage
Channel Project in an amount of $26,511.25, authorize staff to execute said change
order, and take any necessary action.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available from SDUS Funds, Account# 11648941535100007.
BACKGROUND:
The drainage channel project is now complete. It was comprised of approximately 1,300
linear feet of channel widening extending from the south limit of Austin Oaks Addition, to
the neighborhood park in the northern area of the subdivision. The project was
comprised of bank protection, floor protection, and stilling basin construction with gabion
baskets. The final project resulted in a slight increase in the total volume of gabion
baskets used in the walls and the floor of the channel. Additional gabions were used for
field adjustments in specific areas to raise the walls and mitigate the expected velocities
in the channel bottom.
The net increase to the construction contract is 3.7%.
Staff recommends approval.
