SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF FOUR FORD POLICE INTERCEPTOR UTILITY
VEHICLES, THREE CHEVROLET TAHOES AND FOUR FORD F150
CREW CAB TRUCKS
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the purchase of four Ford police interceptor utility
vehicles, three Chevrolet Tahoes, and four Ford F150 crew cab trucks
from Silsbee Ford and Lake Country Chevrolet for the Police and Fire
Departments.
FUNDING SOURCE: Upon the sale of 2022 CO Bonds, funds will be available in the Capital
Equipment Purchase Fund for a total amount not to exceed $715,795.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is to replace these units as approved in the FY22-23
Vehicle Replacement Budget.
These are being purchased in accordance with the 2023 Capital
Equipment Purchase program through the sale of CO Bonds approved on
October 4, 2022.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with the Region VIII Education Service Center known as The
Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS) in Texas as allowed by Texas Local
Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter
791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and contracts were awarded to
Silsbee Ford and Lake Country Chevrolet. The Police, Fleet Services and
Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification
compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide
the best product and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
