AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS AMENDING THE GRAPEVINE CODE
OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 20, SECTION 20-7 RELATIVE
TO STREET NAME CHANGES; PROVIDING FOR THE
NAME CHANGE OF A CERTAIN STREET; PROVIDING A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS,the Grapevine Mills Mall Complex attracts a large number of consumers
to Grapevine; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to make the Grapevine Mills Mall access more readily
identifiable from the State Highway 26 and State Highway 121 corridors; and
WHEREAS, the new access ramp to Grapevine Mills Mall from the southbound
State Highway 121 exit ramp to Bass Pro Drive will greatly improve access to the mall; and
WHEREAS,the new access ramp from State Highway 121 allows TxDOT to provide
signage to this ramp and roadway destination; and
WHEREAS, it now appears appropriate to re-name Gridiron Way between State
Highway 26 and the East Internal Ring Road to "Grapevine Mills Trail" to enhance State
Highway 121 motorists' ability to locate the mall entrance through improved directional
highway signage identifying the new access ramp.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all of the above premises are found to be true and correct and are
incorporated into the body of this ordinance as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That Chapter 20, Section 20-7 Street Name Changes of the Grapevine
Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by the following street name changes:
Delete:
"Gridiron Way
The additional entrance into State Highway 26 located approximately 950 linear feet
northeast of Grapevine Mills Boulevard South and extending northwest from the
highway to the East Internal Ring Road is hereby designated and shall hereafter be
known as Gridiron Way"
Add:
"Grapevine Mills Trail
The additional entrance into State Highway 26 located approximately 950 linear feet
northeast of Grapevine Mills Boulevard South and extending northwest from the
highway to the East Internal Ring Road is hereby designated and shall hereafter be
known as Grapevine Mills Trail."
Section 3. That all provisions of Section 20-7 not specifically amended herein shall
remain in full force and effect and shall not be amended by the adoption of this ordinance.
Section 4. That if any section, article, paragraph, sentence,clause, phrase,or word
in this ordinance, or application thereto any person or circumstance is held invalid or
unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance; and the City Council hereby declares it
would have passed such remaining portions of the ordinance in spite of such invalidity,
which remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect.
Section 5. That the fact that the present ordinances and regulations of the City of
Grapevine, Texas are inadequate to properly safeguard the health, safety, morals, peace
and general welfare of the public creates an emergency which requires that this ordinance
become effective from and after the date of its passage, and it is accordingly so ordained.
