HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 26 - Soil Stabilizer and PlanerMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: NOVEMBER 15, 2022 SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF A NEW SIMEX SOIL STABILIZIER AND PL60 PLANER RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of a Simex soil stabilizer and PL60 planer from Kirby -Smith Machinery, Inc. for the Public Works Department. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds in an amount not to exceed $87,180 will be available in the Capital Equipment Replacement Fund upon receipts from the sale of CO Bonds approved on October 4. BACKGROUND: This is for the purchase of a new of Simex soil stabilizer and PL60 planer for asphalt and concrete self -leveling system to replace unite number 15240. This equipment is primarily used to stabilize soil with either lime or cement prior to paving. This Purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791. Bids were taken by the Cooperatives and a contract was awarded to Kirby -Smith Machinery, Inc. Public Works and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best service and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
