HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 18 - Pleasant Glade PoolMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: DECEMBER 20, 2022
SUBJECT: PURCHASE GLASSCOAT TREATMENT AT PLEASANT GLADE POOL
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase for Glasscoat at
Pleasant Glade Pool from The Slide Experts for the Parks and Recreation
Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Capital Replacement Fund (Parks Department)
for an amount not to exceed $89,000.
BACKGROUND: The plaster for the Pleasant Glade lap pool was last replaced in 2015. The
life expectancy for the marble plaster in a commercial pool is 6-8 years
and is currently in its seventh year. Due to the heavy usage, chemicals,
and exposure to the outdoor elements, this year the plaster for the
Pleasant Glade lap pool needs to be replaced to keep the pool safe and
operational for the upcoming season. The replacement of the plaster
using the GlassCoat treatment has a seven-year warranty with a life
expectancy of 10-15 years.
Purchases will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative
(BuyBoard) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271
and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the cooperative and contracts were awarded to The
Slide Experts. The Parks and Recreation Department and Purchasing
staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product
and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
