DIR OR OF PARKS & RECREATION CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks & Recreation Advisory Board met August 15, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the City Manager's Conference Room, 200 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to -wit: John Dalri Roy Robertson Larry Francis Ray Harris with the following members absent: Dave Buhr Gary Humble Debra Tridico Elizabeth Kaufman Terry Musar constituting a quorum with the following members of the City Staff: Doug Evans Joe Moore The meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m. A moment of silence was observed. Approval of Minutes Director of Parks & Recreation Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation A motion was made by Elizabeth Kaufman and seconded by Larry Francis to approve the July 18, 2013 minutes. Motion passed 8-0. Ayes — John Dalri, Roy Robertson, Larry Francis, Ray Harris, Gary Humble, Debra Tridico, Elizabeth Kaufman, Terry Musar Nays— None Citizen Requests There were no citizen requests. New Business A motion was made by John Dalri and seconded by Larry Francis to elect Ray Harris for Vice -Chairperson of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board. Motion passed 7-0-1. Ayes — John Dalri, Roy Robertson, Larry Francis, Gary Humble, Debra Tridico, Elizabeth Kaufman, Terry Musar Nays— None Abstain — Ray Harris A motion was made by Elizabeth Kaufman and seconded by Ray Harris to elect Dave Buhr for Secretary of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board. Motion passed 8-0. Ayes — John Dalri, Roy Robertson, Larry Francis, Ray Harris, Gary Humble, Debra Tridico, Elizabeth Kaufman, Terry Musar Nays— None Motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Debra Tridico to appoint Adam Sandy as the Student Ex -Officio member of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board. Motion passed 8-0. Ayes — John Dalri, Roy Robertson, Larry Francis, Ray Harris, Gary Humble, Debra Tridico, Elizabeth Kaufman, Terry Musar Nays— None Doug Evans reported on the expansion and renovation of the Community Activities Center, and gave an update. A construction estimate is expected at the end of month. Motion was made by John Dalri and seconded by Larry Francis to approve the following Adopt -An -Area agreements. Motion passed 7-0-1. • Mad Duck Cyclery for West Dove Loop Road, from Dove Road to Dooley Street Ayes — Dave Buhr, Ray Harris, Debra Tridico, Elizabeth Kaufman, Gary Humble, Debra Tridico, Roy Robertson Nays— None Abstain — Terry Musar Miscellaneous Staff Reports — Doug Evans updated the board on: • Denton Creek Trail erosion — Plaque presentation to be held on August 20, 2013 • SH 26 median landscaping — Landscaping will be completed within one month. • Casey's Clubhouse — Grand Opening scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 9 AM. • Wall -Farrar Nature Park — Mr. Evans visited with the Church on the Cross about shared parking; showed soccer/multi-use fields on their property. • Heritage Park tennis and basketball courts — Project is ongoing. • Parr Park Restroom replacement- Restroom replacement has been approved by Council. Working to install security cameras in the park. * Links Trail — Project is out to bid. U FY 2013-14 Quality of Life Improvements — Numerous projects to be considered by Council on August 19. No action taken on the above items. F •� Keep Grapevine Beautiful — Litter index report completed — good report. © GCISD Events — Football season begins. New security process into schools. a Trails Report:—Travis Smith reported the Horseshoe Trails is now GPS'd. Planning to install evacuation signs throughout the trail. Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day is October 5. Double Trouble event is also October 5. No action taken on the above items. Note: Larry Francis and John Dalri left the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Adiourn Motion was made by Elizabeth Tridico and seconded by Terry Musar to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 p.m. Motion passed 6-0. Update on the expansion of the Community Activities Center Chris Smith will give the Board an update on the latest planning of the expansion project. B. Process and schedule for the preparation of the master plan for Meadowmere Park Joe Moore will give the Board an update on the project. C. Preparation of a concept plan for the renovation of Pleasant Glade Pool Chris Smith will update the Board on the reason for the concept plan for the renovation of the pool. D. Consider approval and renewal of Adopt -An -Area agreements The agreements are attached for review. Staff recommends approval.
