Discussion for Possible Consideration
Soccer - Chuck Booth, John Levit, Southlake
Approximately 1,300 participants last season. Expect increase to 1500 participants
next year. Status of soccer fields is that there are not enough practice fields.
Southlake should take the burden off of Grapevine soccer fields. The game fields of
Southlake will have the greatest impact on scheduling of league games. A total of
45% of the participants are from Southlake.
Tennis Association - Beth Trigg, President; Sue Serveck, Vice -President
Good year -no problems.
Baseball - Lawrence Crow
The current leagues have 102 teams, of which 97% of the participants are Grapevine
residents. There was an increase of 300 participants this year, up 30% from last
year. Anticipate an increase up to 1400 or 1500 participants next year. Boys are
expected to increase by 10% and the girls are expected to grow 30 to 50%. There
is a good volunteer base and can handle an increase up to 2000 participants. A
financial report will be in before the next board meeting. There is a need for 4 fields
in S. Grapevine ASAP. Optimists sponsored $700.00 scholarship this year.
Boardmembers discussed a recommendation from the high school principal that Heidi
Baddaker serve as the Student Liaison to the Parks Board for FY94-95.
Motion was made by John Fox and seconded by Robert Brunson to appoint Heidi
Baddaker as the FY95 Student Liaison to the Parks Board. Motion passed 11-0.
Chairperson Denise Gasmire presented a Resolution to the Board in support of after
school youth programming. Motion was made by Roland Johnson and seconded by
Larry Atchley to approve the Resolution presented by Chairperson Denise Gasmire.
Motion passed 11-0.
Promotional booth at Grapefest. Doug Evans presented a sign-up for staffing the
booth. Possibly have a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Representative at booth.
Robert Brunson made a motion and John Fox seconded to have the booth at
Grapefest. Motion passed 11-0.
Robert Brunson made a motion to adjourn and John Fox seconded. Time 8:55 p.m.
Motion passed 11-0.
