The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, June 18, 1998 at 5:30 p.m. at the
Senior Activities Center, 421 Church Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present,
to wit:

The meeting was called to order at 5:49 p.m.
The invocation was given by Ted Ware.

Linda Huff swore in Barbara Johnson, Curtis Ratliff, Jeff Kirkhuff and Larry Atchley. Shane
Wilbanks welcomed the new members. A motion was made by Ruth Nichol and seconded by Hayden
Smith to approve the minutes of the May 14, 1998 meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
Doug Evans introduced Monjit Guram as an interested citizen going on tour.
A motion was made by Barbara Johnson and seconded by Linda Dobbs Willis for the appointment
of Sara McCall as the new Student Liaison. The motion passed unanimously.
The Board reviewed and discussed an application from the Cochran Family to renew their adoption
of the Big Bear Creek Nature Trail. Art Pierce made a motion to approve the renewal and it was
seconded by Jeff Kirkhuff The motion passed unanimously.
The board reviewed an application from the Jay Kelly Family to adopt the play area at Parr Park. Art
Pierce made a motion to approve the application and it was seconded by Jeff Kirkhuff. The motion
passed unanimously.
Miscellaneous Board Items
Doug Evans reported on minor changes to the Parks Master Plan from the last Park Board Meeting.
Discussion ensued over the botanic garden items on the Master Plan list.
Hayden Smith made a motion to adjourn the meeting and it was seconded by Jeff Kirkhuff. The
motion passed unanimously and the meeting adjourned at 6:05. The Board was taken on a tour of
neighborhood parks.

V. NEW BUSINESS
A. Consider approval of an Adopt -A -Road aqreement with the Yeaaer
Family, 1085 Winding Creek Drive West, for Park Boulevard, from
Northwest Highway to Dove Road
The distance from Northwest Highway to Dove Road is approximately one
mile. The application is attached for review. Staff recommends approval.
B. Consider approval of an Adopt -A -Park agreement with Circle T Girl
Scout Troop #4019 for Casey's Clubhouse at Dove Park
This Girl Scout Troop has expressed an interest in adopting Casey's
Clubhouse at Dove Park. Many girls in the troop volunteered their services
in the development of Casey's Clubhouse. Typical tasks at the play area
include litter pickup and flowerbed maintenance. Staff recommends
approval.
C. Presentation of financial and participation reports from the Grapevine
Baseball/Softball Association. the Grapevine/South lake Soccer
Association, the Grapevine Pee Wee Football Association and the
Women's Tennis Association
According to the Athletic Facilities Policy, all associations are required to
meet with the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board in July of each year to
present their financial and participation reports.
