DIRE OR OF PARKS AND RECREATION CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, June 15, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 200 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: Hayden Smith Larry Atchley Larry Francis Dr. Edith Pewitt Julie Florence Barbara Johnson Dr. Curtis Ratliff Roy Robertson Ryan Wade Absent: Staff: Art Pierce Jeff Kirkhuff Doug Evans Joe Moore The meeting was called to order by Vice Chairperson Hayden Smith at 7:00 p.m. A motion was made by Dr. Edith Pewitt and seconded by Larry Atchley to approve the minutes as written of the May 18, 2000 meeting. The motion passed unanimously. Old Business A motion was made by Dr. Edith Pewitt and seconded by Larry Francis to approve the agreement with Memorial Baptist Church of Grapevine to construct the Bear Creek Trail on church property. The motion passed unanimously. New Business A motion was made by Larry Atchley and seconded by Ryan Wade to approve the renewal of the Adopt -A -Park agreement with the Cochran Family for the trails and picnic/play area at Parr Park. The motion passed unanimously. Miscellaneous Board Reports given: ♦ GCISD Student Liaison Report —Presented a request to have a shade shelter at Pecan Park. ♦ Park Photo Contest— Comments were made to create a name, address and entry form. ♦ Peek -at -a -Park Report —A report on the Botanical Garden progress was given. Parking Lot ♦ Trail Projects — Covered in Memorial Baptist Church lease issue A motion was made by Larry Atchley and seconded by Barbara Johnson to adjourn. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Park agreement with Circle T Girl Scout Troop 4019 for Casey's Clubhouse at Dove Park Attached is the application for renewal of the Adopt -A -Park agreement. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board initially approved the agreement on July 16, 1998. Staff recommends approval. B. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Road aareement with the Yeaaer Familv of Grapevine for Park Boulevard Attached is the application for renewal of the Adopt -A -Road agreement. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board initially approved the agreement on July 16, 1998. Staff recommends approval. C. Presentation of the financial and participation reports from the Grapevine Youth Baseball Association. the Grapevine Softball Association. the G rapevine/South lake Soccer Association and the Grapevine Pee Wee Football Association According to the Athletics Facilities Policy, all co-sponsored youth associations are to attend the July Parks & Recreation Advisory Board meeting to present the financial and participation reports of the association. The financial statements from the associations, with the exception of the Grapevine Softball Association (GSA), are attached. The GSA statements will be handed out at the meeting. D. Discussion regarding the promotion of parks and recreation at the upcoming Grapefest celebration scheduled for September 8-10`h The Board will discuss participation in this year's event and appoint Chairperson's for the booth decorations and volunteers. E. Discussion reaardina the dates of the Auaust and September Board Meetings The Director has a conflict with the date of the August meeting and would like to see if the Board would consider moving the meeting to Thursday, August 10`h. Also, the Boardmembers will discuss if they would like the September meeting to be scheduled before Grapefest to go over booth materials and setup.
