DIRECTOR OF PARKS & RECREATION CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, January 24, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at the Senior Activities Center, 421 Church Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: Larry Francis Terry Allen Hayden Smith Roy Robertson Clydene Johnson — Council Liaison Absent: Staff: Barb Keeney — GCISD Liaison Doug Evans Joe Moore Stan Hinson Ryan Wade Barbara Johnson David Benedetto William Cherry, Student Liaison Julie Florence The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Chairperson Hayden Smith. A motion was made by Terry Allen and seconded by Larry Francis to approve the minutes of the November 15, 2001 meeting. The motion passed unanimously. Old Business A motion was made by Ryan Wade and seconded by Barbara Johnson to approve the renewal of the Adopt -A -Park agreement with the Creekwood West Homeowners Assn. for Big Bear Creek Nature Preserve, from Old Mill Run to Pool Road. The motion passed unanimously. New Business Chairperson Hayden Smith appointed David Benedetto as liaison to the Youth Sports Association. Doug Evans gave a report on the Games of Texas by TAAF and discussion ensued. Grapevine is hosting Swimming, Men's Softball C and Disc Golf. Friday, August 15, 2002 is the Pre -Games Kickoff. It was the consensus that all Board members will be involved in planning on the local level. Doug Evans gave a report on Meadowmere Park, with regard to the Corps of Engineers pushing the City to lease all of the property, an additional 80 acres. Miscellaneous Board Reports William Cherry reported that there were no major requests from students. Career Development Day is coming up and William will contact Doug Evans on the dates. Roy Robertson reported: • Needs cleaning at the southeast of Dove Loop and Park Road #1 because of a sight visibility issue. • Carroll Natatorium has an excellent Masters Swim Program. • Parking lot at Horseshoe Trails Park and Dove now being used. Terry Allen offered congratulations to staff for work done at Oak Grove Park baseball fields, but additional work to be done prior to Coach's Look. Miscellaneous Staff Reports The Board was given an update on the following projects. • Trail Reports — Report by Joe Moore. • Daddy/Daughter Dance — February 9`h at 7:00 p.m. There will be carriage rides and ticket coupons will be used. Ryan Wade, Larry Francis and William Cherry volunteered to help with the Daddy/Daughter Dance. • Meadowmere Park Development — Project out to bid. Report by Joe Moore. • Pickering Park Improvements — Renovations. Report by Doug Evans. • Oak Grove Park Improvements — Backstop. Report by Doug Evans. • Parr Park Improvements — Parking Lot issue. • GCISD Joint Use Agreement. • Faith Christian Agreement. A motion was made by Larry Francis and seconded by Ryan Wade to adjourn. Consider approval of the formation of Keep Grapevine Beautiful an affiliate of Keep Texas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful The Board has discussed this item at past meetings and much work has been done to get this program off the ground. Attached is information and history of Keep Texas Beautiful and how this program operates. Also attached is a mission statement for Keep Grapevine Beautiful. Staff recommends the Board approve the formation of Keep Grapevine Beautiful. B. Consider approval of the Articles of Incorporation for Keep Grapevine Beautiful Attached are the Articles of Incorporation for the Keep Grapevine Beautiful program. Staff recommends approval. C. Consider approval of an initial slate of Board of Directors for Keep Grapevine Beautiful Attached is the initial slate of the Board of Directors for Keep Grapevine Beautiful. Additional Directors will most likely be added in the future. Staff recommends approval. D.
