Ely DIRE R OF PARKS & RECREATION V. New Business A. Consider a recommendation from the Student Liaison Interview Committee for the GCISD student ex -officio member of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board David Benedetto, Roy Robertson and Ryan Wade formed a committee that interviewed two candidates for the student liaison. They will have a recommendation for the Board at the meeting. B. Discussion regarding the concept of a Dog Park in Grapevine A local citizen called and asked if this item could be placed on the agenda for discussion. Staff has done quite a bit of research on this and will pass this on to the Board. I also think there will be several residents attending the meeting to voice their support for a leash -free area for dogs. C. Consider renewal of an Adopt -a Park agreement with the Cochran Family for the trails and west side of Parr Park The Board and City Council initially approved the agreement with the Cochran Family in March of 1996. Staff recommends approval. D. Discussion regarding a promotional booth at Grapefest This year, the festival has been expanded to four days. All Parks & Recreation Department staff are involved in the festival in some manner and do not have the time to focus on the booth. Therefore, it is the recommendation of staff to not have a booth at Grapefest. E. Discussion regarding Corps of Engineers property in Grapevine Officials at the Corps of Engineers at Lake Grapevine have asked the City if we had an interest in taking over additional park property in Grapevine. Staff will update the Board on this request at the meeting. CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, May 16, 2002 at 7:00 p.m, at the Senior Activities Center, 421 Church Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: Larry Francis Roy Robertson Terry Allen Clydene Johnson — Council Liaison Absent: Barbara Johnson William Cherry Staff: Doug Evans Joe Moore Guest: Nat Norman Stan Hinson David Benedetto Ryan Wade The meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m. by Vice Chairperson Larry Francis. A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by David Benedetto to approve the minutes of the April 18, 2002 meeting. The motion passed unanimously. Citizen Requests A schedule and itinerary for the tour of Grapevine parks was requested to be put on the website. Old Business The items to be displayed in the booth at Main Street Days were discussed. With regard to the Athletics Facilities Policy, Doug Evans passed out a survey and discussion ensued. A motion was made by Stan Hinson and seconded by David Benedetto to table action on the policy and bring it back at the next meeting. The motion passed unanimously. Miscellaneous Board Reports There will be a Youth Sports Association meeting on the first Wednesday in June at 7:00 p.m. at the Community Activities Center. Miscellaneous Staff Reports The Board was given an update on the following projects. • Status of trail projects • Recreation Events • Meadowmere Park Development • Parr Park Improvements A Board Interview Committee consisting of Roy Robertson, Stan Hinson, David Benedetto and Larry Francis was set up to make recommendations at the next Board meeting for the new Student Liaison representative.
