V. New Business
A. Consider a recommendation from the Student Liaison Interview Committee
for the GCISD student ex -officio member of the Parks & Recreation Advisory
Board
David Benedetto, Roy Robertson and Ryan Wade formed a committee that
interviewed two candidates for the student liaison. They will have a
recommendation for the Board at the meeting.
B. Discussion regarding the concept of a Dog Park in Grapevine
A local citizen called and asked if this item could be placed on the agenda
for discussion. Staff has done quite a bit of research on this and will pass
this on to the Board. I also think there will be several residents attending the
meeting to voice their support for a leash -free area for dogs.
C. Consider renewal of an Adopt -a Park agreement with the Cochran Family for
the trails and west side of Parr Park
The Board and City Council initially approved the agreement with the
Cochran Family in March of 1996. Staff recommends approval.
D. Discussion regarding a promotional booth at Grapefest
This year, the festival has been expanded to four days. All Parks &
Recreation Department staff are involved in the festival in some manner and
do not have the time to focus on the booth. Therefore, it is the
recommendation of staff to not have a booth at Grapefest.
E. Discussion regarding Corps of Engineers property in Grapevine
Officials at the Corps of Engineers at Lake Grapevine have asked the City
if we had an interest in taking over additional park property in Grapevine.
Staff will update the Board on this request at the meeting.
