Discussion regarding the concept of a Dog Park in Grapevine C. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Park agreement with the Cochran Family for Bear Creek Trail and the west side of Parr Park D. Discussion regarding a promotional booth at Grapefest E. Presentation of the financial and participation reports from the Grapevine Youth Baseball Association, Grapevine Girls Softball Association, Grapevine Pee Wee Football Association and the Grapevine/Southlake Soccer Association Included in your packets are the reports that were available to staff when the packets were mailed to you. Members of each of the associations have been invited to the meeting to explain the reports and to answer any questions the Board Members may have. B. Consider renewal of an Adopt -A -Park application from Circle T Girl Scout Troop 4019 for Casey's Clubhouse at Dove Park The original agreement was approved by the Board and City Council in July of 1998. Staff recommends approval. C. Discussion regarding Corps of Engineers orooerty in Grapevine Staff gave a brief report on this at the June meeting. Since that time, staff has been in negotiations with Corps officials on the potential takeover of Corps property by the City of Grapevine. Staff will update the Board on the latest developments. CITY OF GRAPEVINE COUNTY OF TARRANT STATE OF TEXAS The City of Grapevine Parks and Recreation Board met Thursday, June 20, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at the Senior Activities Center, 421 Church Street, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present, to wit: David Benedetto Ryan Wade Terry Allen Roy Robertson Larry Francis Stan Hinson Absent: Barbara Johnson William Cherry Staff: Doug Evans Joe Moore Guests: Ray Harris Shelly McDade Janette Murray Elena Morrison The meeting was called to order at 7:06 p.m. by Vice Chairperson Larry Francis. A motion was made by Terry Allen and seconded by David Benedetto to approve the minutes of the May 16, 2002 meeting. The motion passed unanimously. Minutes to reflect that the Athletic Policies were not on 6-20-02 agenda as indicated by minutes of 5-16-02. Citizen Requests Ms. Shelley McDade, a resident of Euless, mentioned her interest in a dog park for Grapevine. Ms. McDade works for the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District. Ms. Janette Murray and Ray Harris of Grapevine also spoke in favor of a dog park in Grapevine. New Business Recommendations for the GCISD Student Liaison were discussed. Parks & Recreation Advisory Board members Roy Robertson, Ryan Wade and David Benedetto formed a committee to interview two candidates for the student liaison. Members of the committee made comments on why they preferred one candidate over the other. Roy Robertson made a motion and it was seconded by Ryan Wade to select Tyler Johnson as GCISD Student Liaison. Motion passed unanimously. A motion was made by Ryan Wade and seconded by David Benedetto to approve the renewal of the Adopt -A -Park agreement with the Cochran Family for Bear Creek Trail and the west side of Parr Park. The motion passed unanimously. The Board and staff discussed the option of having a promotional booth at the upcoming Grapefest festival. It was a consensus that it would be difficult to staff the booth, especially since the festival has been expanded to four days. A motion was made by Stan Hinson and seconded by Ryan Wade to not have a booth at Grapefest this year. The motion passed unanimously. Doug Evans gave a report regarding the potential takeover of Corps of Engineers property in Grapevine. Doug is collecting data and will report back at the next meeting. Miscellaneous Board Reports Terry Allen reported on field conditions. A scoring/grading committee has been set up. The base lines need to be tilled. Mr. Allen mentioned that a tour of area city ballfields would be a good idea to compare Grapevine's facilities to that of other cities. Roy Robertson gave compliments on Triathlon. Event needs more advertising and the $40 price is too high. Miscellaneous Staff Reports The Board was given an update on the following projects. • Status of trail projects • Recreation Events — Games of Texas • Meadowmere Park Development • July meeting date will be moved to the 25th A motion was made by Roy Robertson and seconded by Stan Hinson to adjourn.
